ENGLAND Lions skipper James Vince praised the performance of fellow Wiltshire star Liam Dawson after they levelled the five-match T20 series against Pakistan A with a comfortable 41-run win under floodlights at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Dawid Malan hit 80 as England posted 164-5, while Calne’s Dawson took 2-25 with the ball as Pakistan were dismissed for 123 in reply.

Although Jamie Overton led the charge with the ball for the Lions with figures of 3-26, while there were also two wickets for Jake Ball, it was the efforts of the skipper’s Hampshire county colleague Dawson which particularly satisfied Steeple Ashton’s Vince.

“He did a great job on a wicket that didn’t offer a huge amount for the spinners," said Vince.

"He’s a good competitor and a good guy to have in the side. I think any level he played at to be honest he’d adapt to – I’ve got a lot of confidence in his cricket and hopefully he’s finding that as well now.

“It was good to captain and good to watch out there. That pitch suited us a bit better than the one used for the first game - there was a bit more pace in it. With the pace in the wicket we were able to be a bit more aggressive with them and I’m not sure they liked it too much.”
