CALNE'S Liam Dawson continued his impressive winter with England Lions by helping the tourists to a second consecutive victory against Pakistan A in Dubai.
Goatacre CC's Dawson shared a half-century stand with Middlesex opener Dawid Malan, who hit 114 from 109 balls on Friday as the tourists won by 69 runs to pull 2-0 ahead in the five-match series.
Dawson, who also made a big impression in the T20 series success, also took three wickets with his left-arm spin as the side, captained by Steeple Ashton's James Vince triumphed.
Malan hit 12 fours and two sixes before he was caught at deep midwicket, and also shared half-century stands with former Warminster and Chippenham player Vince, Sam Billings as well as Vince's Hampshire teammate Dawson.
Worcestershire's Ross Whiteley and Joe Clarke then teamed up in an unbroken sixth-wicket partnership of 66 in only 31 balls to fire the Lions to an imposing total of 314 for five after they had been put in.
The Lions have a chance to seal the series in the third match on Monday.
