WILTSHIRE opened their 2016 season with a friendly match against Frocester CC - last year's West of England Premier League champions yesterday.

The match was played as a 45 over a side game with Wiltshire winning by two wickets.

Frocester batted first and scored 192-8, Nick Trainor top scoring with 44.

For Wiltshire, Westbury's Andy Carroll took 3-32, Corsham's Joe King 2-36, Jake Lintott 2-28 and South Wilts' Steve Warner bowled his nine overs for 12 runs and one wicket.

Wiltshire, in reply, scored 193-8 with three overs remaining, John Sore scoring 32.

Corsham's Ashur Morrison added 52 before retiring, while Harry Hovey (21) and Carroll (35 not out in 17 balls with four sixes) also weighed in.

Wiltshire's next friendly is against Dorset at South Wilts CC, on Saturday April 9, starting at 11am.

Wiltshire's squad includes Lintott, signed from Dorset in the close season.
