THIS time of year is all about the switch in formats from the shorter form of the game to the longer form, and for me personally, it’s something that I look forward to.

We’re flipping from one-day cricket to three-day cricket but I think that it’s always great for the confidence if you’re doing well in the short form of the game and you’re into the latter stages of the Trophy.

In 2014, we went unbeaten for 10 matches in a row and it would be great if we could go on that sort of run again.

To try and do that, it’s all about consistency. Last season, there were times when we capitulated but if you took those periods out of the games, we would have done very well.

It’s a long slog in the three-day game and you have to stay focused because one bad session can lose you a match but if your confidence is high, then that can hopefully help you achieve the consistency that you need to be successful.

You have to adapt from one form of the game to the other but I think that the way that we have been playing in one-day cricket will help us when we go to Cheshire this weekend because it’s much the same side as the last few years.

We didn’t play them last season but the season before that, we went there towards the end of the season and we expected them to be downhearted because they were a little bit down the table but they beat us.

Last season, they finished a lot further down and I’m not sure why that is because they’re a good side and they’ve got a big area to pick players from.

I’m sure that it’s going to be a tough match up there again this time and we have to be ready for that.

We’re very happy with the side that we’ve got and I think that the bowling department is very strong with the three seamers and Jake Lintott to give us a bit of spin.

We just need to get the batting side of things right.
