WILTSHIRE will face a final day shoot-out with Cornwall in their Unicorns Championship clash after the two sides finished day two at Corsham with the scores level.

Cornwall declared their first innings on 276-9 at the end of the day’s play, exactly the same score as the home side had reached earlier on.

The teams now effectively face a one-day match at Station Road today in an effort to decide a winner.

Resuming on 222-7 after Sunday’s opening day, Wiltshire had to wait until well into the afternoon to restart their first innings due to early rain.

Jon Sore (54 not out) and Tahir Afridi (52) continued where they left off the previous evening and added an additional 33 runs before the latter fell, breaking their partnership at 116.

Andy Carroll followed him back to the pavilion soon afterwards, with Wiltshire skipper Michael Coles swiftly declaring on 276-9.

Afridi then gave the home side a dream start with the ball, dismissing both Cornwall openers with just 24 runs on the board.

Brad Wadlan (53), Christian Purchase (66) and Paul Smith (51) led a fightback for the visitors before a flurry of late wickets saw them fall from 243-5 to 259-9.

Wiltshire were unable to claim the final wicket, however, and Cornwall declared at the end of the day’s play with the scores level.

Play is due to resume at 11am at Corsham this morning.
