WILTSHIRE cricketer James Vince has retained his place in the England Test squad for their series opener against Pakistan next week.
Vince, from Steeple Ashton, made his debut in the three-match series against Sri Lanka earlier this summer, scoring 54 runs in four innings.
Although Hampshire player Vince was only able to reach a high score of 35, he has done enough to remain in the squad for the first of four Tests against Pakistan, which starts at Lord’s next Thursday.
Gary Ballance has been recalled to the squad but England’s all-time leading wicket-taker James Anderson misses out through injury.
Toby Roland-Jones earns a first call-up and will vie with Jake Ball for a Test debut.
