BEANACRE and Melksham suffered a seven wicket loss to Avebury.

Having won the toss and opting to bat first, Beanacre were quickly in trouble as they lost Tom Watling and Daniel Carpenter without troubling the scorers.

Roy Veacock (24) and Matt Hunt (46) started the fight back with an 84-run partnership, while Chris Singh struck 38 as the hosts were dismissed for 145, with Pete Force-Jones taking 4-24 from six overs, while Dominic Fry claimed 3-13 from 6.2 overs before Avebury went on to reach their target in the 30th over.

The opening batsman plundered 32 runs from the opening three overs as the hosts went on to rack up 300-6 from their 45 overs, with Ryan Fraser (63) and Andy Holman (60) also making useful contributions.

In reply, Keevil attempted to stay with the more than a run-a-ball rate, but while they were aggressive in the opening 13 overs - scoring 75 - they were always behind the eight-ball.

Jarrod Price bowled tightly for no reward conceding 39 runs from his nine overs, while skipper Owen Shepperd was the pick of the Collingbourne attack with 3-41.

Andy Hallett top-scored for the visitors with a half-century, but Keevil closed on 273-7.

Batting first, Bassett posted 245-8 before the hosts reached the target on the final ball.

However, the 10 points secured by Bassett was enough to send them three points clear of their Burbage and Easton Royal counterparts, who were without a game.

Division Seven

Having asked the visitors to bat first, Purton restricted them to 229-7 with Neil Gliddon top-scoring with 70, while opener James Neale struck 55.
