IT IS going to be nice for the new young lads that we have got an away trip this weekend.

Fresh from our victory over Wales a couple of weeks ago, we head to Herefordshire on Sunday in what is going to be a tough few days.

But this game is about blooding our youngsters and seeing them stake a claim for a place in our squad long-term.

Jack Mynott and Steve Warner have both been doing well down at South Wilts so they will come back into the squad as does Trowbridge captain Mike Reynolds.

Will Wade will keep his place at Brockhampton as will James Arney.

James made his debut against Wales the other week and he did well and he really took his opportunity.

He never looked out of place coming into the team and he has plenty of potential.

He is definitely one for the future for us, he can bat and bowl and he runs in extremely hard all day for the team.

A lot of these boys will have been away for a couple of days with the academy and U17 sides, but three-day games are a different kettle of fish.

On the Sunday after, what will hopefully be our first day’s play – fingers crossed for no rain, everyone will head back to the hotel, some lads will go out for a meal and then back to rest up.

Now I’m the first one to enjoy a quiet beer after a day’s play and if the players choose to do so that is fine.

These lads are not professional cricketers so they are able to have a quiet beer just as long as they are fresh and raring to go the next day.

We will then have a team meal on the Monday and that is a good time for the team to bond.
