WESTBURY put in a huge performance as they crushed title rivals Marshfield by 103 runs.

Before the game, Marshfield were three points ahead of Westbury, but after a dazzling display from Alex Senneck’s team, they are now 11 points clear.

The hosts won the toss and asked the visitors to bat, and Senneck’s men made a solid start as they put on 60 for the first wicket before Ben Whiting (32) fell.

It was after this their progress would slow, Richard Mills (22), Daniel Gibbs (7) and Banon Varley (9) all fell in quick succession, with the scoreboard now reading 79-4.

Despite the disappointing haul, Westbury continued to plug away and soon managed to boost their score to 150-7.

But they would again struggle. Richard Oakley was caught out to for a duck with the first ball he faced to make it 150-8 and he was shortly followed by Andy Carroll and Luke Dilena, which meant Westbury were left with a total of 165 all out.

But, despite a mediocre score to defend, Westbury quickly made inroads as Carroll and Oakley saw off Marshfield’s opening pair with ease.

This momentum continued as Westbury blitzed through the hosts' batting order, with Nic Badings and William Pascali also falling victim to Carroll and Oakley at 14-4.

Carroll claimed another wicket and this time it was James Williams, who went without troubling the scorers.

Richard Mills picked three wickets when he removed Ben Gardener (16), Dave Jenkins (13) and Tom Clist (13) and when the hosts were all out for 62 late in less than 27 overs, Westbury had dominated their rivals in a 103-run victory.

Meanwhile, Trowbridge slumped to a 34-run defeat at the hands of Calne, who batted first and posted 217 all out, Tom Richards hitting 64 whilst Scott Mitchell took 3-56.

In reply, Trowbridge fell short in their run-chase, with Mitchell top-scoring with 35 as they were dismissed for 185 in little more than 40 overs.
