ON Monday we finished our season with a huge win at home to Shropshire and have ended up finishing sixth in the Unicorns Championship Western Division table.

I was over the moon with that victory, it was a superb effort all round and I can’t fault the guys, they were brilliant for a day and a half. We bossed the game from about the third ball and from then on, we never looked back.

It was an amazing effort and I am so impressed with the way the guys approached the game but also the way they were professional throughout. Once they got on top, they never lost grip of it.

Shropshire are an excellent side but we took them to the cleaners, it was an excellent all-round performance.

We bowled Shropshire out for 59 in their first innings, which was an amazing effort. I think we have probably bowled someone out for a low total like that before but not Shropshire, they are always a strong outfit.

Although we lost the toss, we would have batted ourselves but we went out in the field and James Arney and Tahir Afridi had the ball nipping around from ball one. In certain circumstances, those two lads were unplayable.

We started the season really slowly and sat down after the Cornwall game and since then there has been a total change in attitude and emphasis and we’ve finished the season with a three-match unbeaten run.

There are young lads coming through and lads that want to be there. They are all pitching in and there’s depth in the squad and if we can build on that next year, it bodes well for the future.
