WESTBURY captain Alex Senneck believes his side are more than ready for the step up to Premier Two Glos/Wilts.

Senneck’s side were promoted last season after they finished top of WEPL Wiltshire.

They have also made a few new additions to the squad, with Mike Coles, Aaron Dickinson, Ian Pinchen and James Hudson all joining the club.

“We are looking to build on last year. It was a good season because we won the league and got promoted,” said Senneck.

“We’re not looking to coast through this year and just stay up, we are looking to win as many games as possible and have another successful season.

“We’ve not looked to bring many people in but they have come to us. We have picked up three or four players who are Premier One standard.

“Those three (Coles, Hudson and Dickinson) are particularly big signings, which has bolstered our stock quite significantly.”

With games against Potterne and Bath acting as preparation for the new season, Senneck thinks his troops are well equipped for what is in store.

On the opening day, Senneck will take his troops to Gloucestershire where they will take on Hatherley and Redding.

“We are keen to get going and we will just hope for some good weather,” added Senneck. “Preparation has been okay, it is always a bit hit and miss at the start of the season. We have had some tough tests from Potterne and Bath.

“The results aren’t that important - they have been good games which we have learned a lot from which we can hopefully put towards the first league game this Saturday.

“We plan to get off to a very good start and to win as many games as we can. There will obviously be a step-up in standard and there will be a lot of depth in every team.

“It wasn’t so long ago we were in that league so the standard will feel similar to those who played in that team.”
