BOTH Trowbridge and Westbury suffered defeats over the weekend in WEPL Prem Two Glos Wilts action.

Trowbridge’s lost by 181 runs at home to Thornbury, who are second in the early league standings with two wins from two.

Skipper Tom Weaver opted to field after winning the toss at the County Ground as Trowbridge soon found themselves in trouble on home soil.

The away side soon rattled together a huge total, as Dan Davis, Nick Willis-Stovold and Luke Davis all registered half-centuries with tallies of 55, 52 and 76, which helped Thornbury decide to declare at 300-6.

When it was time for the home team to bat, fresh from hitting 52, Davis continued to be a thorn in the side of Trowbridge as he registered a five-wicket haul as the hosts were all out for 119.

For Westbury, their game at Burbage & Easton Royal was more competitive as they fell 35 runs short of the 110-run target set by the home side.

The home side won the toss and chose to bat and after a slow start, they were able to pick up the pace through Daniel Wooton (46) before he was bowled out by Westbury’s Richard Mills.

With a target of 110 to chase, Westbury struggled. Michael Cole top-scored with 35 as the hosts put in a feeble batting display.

Sam Burdock and Dan Gill were both removed for a golden duck, only four other batsmen managed to register, but three failed to get over double figures as they were all out for 75.

Elsewhere, Corsham were able to break their duck with an 89-run success at Lechlade.

Opener Tom Smith scored 83 to help the hosts post 251 all out, with Simon Taylor taking 4-34 for Lechlade.

Tom Foley then led the charge with the ball for Corsham as his 4-52 saw Lechlade dismissed for 162 in 36 overs, despite 50 from Freddie Tucker.
