Good toss to win, says Whiting
Ben Whiting (18764/5)

WESTBURY were easy winners at home to Taunton Deane in their opening Premier Division Two game on Saturday.

Westbury chose to bowl and Taunton were having a nightmarish innings before Russell Jones (52) saved them from embarrassment.

Phil Carroll and Jacques Prinsloo both took three wickets and Johan Fourie and Adrian Kesby dismissed two batsmen each.

Westbury's innings started badly as Joe Breet went for nine but solid performances from the rest of the top order assured an easy win.

Jon Dilena top-scored for Westbury as he hit 43 not out while Alex Hart contributed 26 to the cause.

Matthew Milton (22) and Fourie (19) added to the total before Sayeed Ibrahim saw out the innings with Dilena.

Skipper Ben Whiting said: "It was a good toss to win with all the midweek rain. It was a bit sticky under the covers and that pretty much decided the game.

"The opening two bowlers bowled exceptionally well and then Phil Carroll and Jacques took three each.

"Until Russell Jones came in we'd have had them out for about 60.

"You can't start any better than that and it was morale-boosting.

"It wasn't an outstanding performance, it was just a team performance, it's all you can do when you're chasing that sort of score on a wet day."
