Boulton blames batsmen for heavy defeat
Kris Boulton
Kris Boulton

BIDDESTONE captain Kris Boulton said a lack of application with the bat cost his team victory against Wootton Bassett.

Boulton's side stumbled to 56 as they chased the hosts' total of 133, handing the home side a comfortable win.

The Biddestone skipper said: "We just didn't apply ourselves with the bat, if you bat for 30 overs you win the game.

"I think we all felt we were better than that, the application needed to improve.

"Their two big seamers up front both hit the deck hard and got the ball to move about.

"They came out fired up and are a very impressive team who are going to be very competitive.

"It wasn't a good start but I'm a very positive captain and there's positives to take out of it.

"We kept them to 133 off 50 overs so the bowlers did the job.

"We certainly should have had both their openers out with catches which weren't difficult. If you take those it's a different game.

"We're bitterly disappointed to lose first week."
