PAUL Ranger's last game in charge at Bradford Town did not end as hoped as
his team fell 2-0 to Longwell Green Sports.
The result meant Bradford did not win in their last three games, but still
finished well clear of the relegation zone in the Toolstation League
Division One in 13th place.
The omens were not good for Bradford early on when they lost influential
midfielder Jerad O'Pray to injury in the warm-up.
It did not get any better for Ranger's men once the match began, as they
fell 1-0 behind to a soft opener.
A Longwell player had a shot that goalkeeper Stu Powell seemed to have
covered, but he misjudged his dive and the ball went in at the near post.
Powell's afternoon did not get any better as Longwell went further ahead
through another stroke of luck.

Again Powell seemed to have a shot covered, but it cruelly bobbled over his
body and into the net.
Despite their ill-fortune Bradford could not complain they did not have
chances, with Steve Roddy missing a penalty and Russell Francis somehow
failing to score from two yards.
But Longwell seemed to have luck on their side and their earlier goals
proved enough as they held out for the win.
Despite his disappointment, boss Ranger was philosophical about the result.
Ranger said: "We should have got something out of the game but they scored
two freak goals.
"You take your chances and you're in the game but it wasn't to be.
"Longwell were all right, they had a bit of luck but a draw would have been
a fair result. I'm pleased with all the lads."
