FOLLOWING on from their narrow defeat at Willand the previous day, Frome Town produced an excellent performance to comfortably win 4-1 at Ilfracombe Town in their last game of the Toolstation League Premier Division yesterday.
Although the events of the previous day meant that the outcome of the match could have no effect on Frome's eventual league position, it was still a match that everyone wanted to win, and it started off badly as the hosts swept into a 1-0 lead with only three minutes gone, as Shaun Lewis fired home from 12 yards after a right wing cross.

The scores were very quickly level, though as a right wing cross from James Rustell caused panic in the home defence, and Mark Salter was on hand to poke the ball home from close range in the sixth minute.
With the scores level, Frome were denied a strong appeal for a penalty as an Ilfracombe defender appeared to handle the ball in the area in the 26th minute, but they were then thankful for Richard Fey's heroics in the 29th and 38th minutes as he carried on his good form from the previous day by producing good saves from attackers in one-on-one situations.
Ilfracombe were again unlucky not to take the lead as a shot from Taswell thumped against the crossbar from 18 yards in the 43rd minute.
If Ilfracombe had the better of the first half, Frome came out firing on all cylinders in the second half, and pretty much took control of the game.
Frome took the lead in the 53rd minute with a stunning goal from Dean Caslake as he carried the ball towards the penalty area and unleashed a superb right foot shot high into the top left hand corner of the goal, giving the keeper no chance, and giving Caslake his first goal for Frome at senior level.
Caslake was again involved in the 68th minute as a good run and a perfect cross from the right wing found the head of Mark Salter, and the striker made no mistake with a header from 12 yards to give Frome a 3-1 lead.
Sam Duggan wrapped the game up for Frome in the 73rd minute as a period of pinball in the Ilfracombe penalty area lead to the ball breaking out and he poked it home from close range to make the score 4-1 to Frome.
With the match safely secured, manager Andy Crabtree brought cheers from the Frome faithful as he brought himself on for the last five minutes of the match for a cameo performance on the left wing.
Dean Caslake was awarded the Man of the Match for a mature performance and a superb goal to start his Frome Town goal scoring career.
