THE youngsters came good for Trowbridge as they claimed their second league victory of the season at Doric Park last Saturday.

George Leat, Josh Frost, Dan Phillips, Shia Bonnick, and Niall Jones all stepped up to perform well as Steve Ojomoh’s side secured victory.

Maidenhead were first on the board after just five minutes with a penalty from number ten Carl Stephens.

But the home side levelled matters with a Lloyd Davis penalty and, with the home forwards now beginning to exert some control, Trowbridge took the lead with another Davis kick, as the referee lost patience with the visitors taking down a maul.

The home side continued to play the better rugby, Tom Weaver. James Davies and Ashley Chalk showing good ball-handling skills breaking through the Maidenhead defence.

From the resulting maul, Ashley Chalk showed good pace to score out wide, Davis adding the extra two points.

Maidenhead responded, piling on the pressure, and from a pushover lock Phil White touched down to leave his side trailing 13-8 at the break.

In the second half, the home side started at pace, pinning the visitors back thanks to the tactical kicking of Davis.

From a Trowbridge scrum, Leat broke through the defence to score the first of his brace of tries, Davis again converting.

But the visitors forced their way back upfield, resulting in another pushover try from their number eight James Emmanue.

Poor discipline from both sides broke up the game further, but Davis nudged Trowbridge further clear with another penalty.

In the last quarter, Maidenhead threw everything into attack but were left exposed in defence.

Trowbridge turned the ball over from a ruck and, breaking round the blindside, produced the best score of the game.

Forwards and backs combined in a passing movement that took them 60 metres, sending Leat in under the posts , Davis’s conversion completing the scoring.
