BATH coach Neal Hatley expects the club to keep faith with their young players when they take on Exeter Chiefs in their second LV= Cup match tomorrow (4.30pm).

No fewer than 14 current and former members of Bath’s Academy were included in the squad that saw off London Welsh 47-7 at the Rec last weekend, with England U20 lock Charlie Ewels leading the side.

Back rower Leroy Houston could come back into the side having returned from suspension but Hatley believes the youngsters’ performance last week warrants another look.

“Going to Sandy Park is unbelievably tough and, if anything, we expect them (Exeter) to load up a bit,’’ said Hatley, who will also have centre Jonathan Joseph back from England duty and available.

“But the (young) guys deserve their opportunities because they’ve come into the side and done well.’’ Hatley paid tribute to Ewel’s leadership last weekend, adding: “We’re very pleased for hi,.

“It (the captaincy) may have take a few people by surprise, but not the guys that work with him.

“He spoke unbelievably well in the week and his message was clear and concise. He’s a young guy with a very wise head on his shoulders and for us, it’s a long-term prospect.’’

  • THE Combined Services will take on the Barbarians at the Rec on Tuesday evening. Tickets are available via bathrugby.com or by calling 0844 448 1865.
