WARMINSTER were left devastated by a one-point defeat to their rivals at the bottom of the table.

Warminster took to the field with three sets of brothers, possibly for the first time in the club’s history, in the form of the Rowbothams (Steve and James), McIntyres (Dan and Jack) and 17 year old twins Ollie and James Pinnell.

They started the brighter of the sides, with the McIntyre brothers in the centre causing the Oaks defence problems.

The older of the two, Dan, opened the scoring with a superb individual try in the corner.

Gavin Pratt, returning to kicking duties in the absence of regular kicker Jason Sprangle, nailed the touchline conversion.

Oaks hit back with a controversial score of their own as a touch judge’s flag appeared to halt one of their breaks, only for the flag to be lowered.

The hosts paid the price for not playing to the whistle and the visitors took advantage with a quick tap to go over for a converted try.

Warminster recovered to retake the lead. wing James Pinnell showing good pace to score his third try in two first team appearances.

In the second half Oaks began to take control and, although Warminster maintained their dominance in the scrums, they could not keep any continuity.

The visitors took advantage, landing two penalties to snatch the victory by a single point.
