WARMINSTER are in for a nail-biting afternoon at Folly Lane on Saturday April 18, when their Dorset & Wilts One South fate will be decided.

Last weekend’s heavy defeat at the hands of Lytchett Minster means that the Amber and Blues remain four points ahead of second-from-bottom Ivel Barbarians but in 15 days’ time, Warminster host second-placed Bournemouth seconds whilst Ivel take on Lytchett.

The Folly Lane men made the trip to Dorset outfit Lytchett for the first time in nine years on Saturday having to change seven players from the previous week’s victory over Wimborne seconds, they were put to the sword.

Warminster travelled with just 16 players and were handed the chance to take the lead early on when the hosts infringed in front of their own posts but Harry Lee sent the kick wide.

Lytchett hit back with two penalties but Gavin Pratt stepped up to hit back for the visitors, with the score 6-3 at half-time.

But against the strong wind in the second period, the decimated amber and blues wilted, with the home side romping home.

Lytchett also took full advantage of Warminster’s misfortune, with the visitors losing scavenger Ollie Pinnell, who had to be replaced by 17-year-old Alex Geddes, and Scott Blaszkiw to injury, meaning they played on with 14 men.

After John McCredie’s departure, Warminster ended the afternoon with 13 troops.
