MATT Garvey is adamant Bath Rugby will be giving everyone the full respect they deserve in the Aviva Premiership run-in.
Bath’s final match of the regular season is the West County derby at home to Gloucester, while the penultimate game sees them travel to Harlequins, where their play-off dreams went up in smoke last term.
Before that third-placed Bath are away at Newcastle Falcons and at home to London Irish, fixtures which they will start as heavy favourites for.
For flanker Garvey, however, the game that takes priority is the one that falls next on the calendar as the chase for a top-four finish comes to a head.
“We all want a home semi but if we start looking too far ahead it’s disrespectful to the opposition,” said Garvey, ahead of today’s trip to Newcastle.
“If we start thinking about Harlequins or Gloucester already we could easily come unstuck against Newcastle.
“Last year is not something we’ve really talked about but it is in the back of our minds.
“That’s something we can learn from because we were in that situation before and we messed up.”
