BRADFORD on Avon head coach Dave George took plenty of positives despite his side losing 44-39 in a points feast at Ashley Lane.

The home side picked up two points from the encounter and George was impressed by the way his Academy players stepped up to the plate.

"It was a great game for the neutral, but maybe not for coaches,'' said George, whose side go to Midsomer Norton on Saturday.

"It was a great game of rugby and both sides wanted to play.

"We didn't know what to expect from them (Dockers) at all and and, to be fair, I thought we tore them apart up front.''

Bradford's scores came from a penalty try after a scrummage before Andrew Twinney went over from a catch and drive from a lineout.

Wing Jarvis Conybear also touched down and there was also a score from full-back Chas Burwell.

Josh Felix also booted four conversions and two penalties for the home side.

George added: "It's a good start to the season, the boys didn't give up, even when we were 36-15 down we came back well.

"I thought some of our young Academy lads went well - the likes of Bryce Conybear and Ross Dewar - came in and showed up well and there is plenty for us to work on.''
