WESTBURY maintained their pursuit of the top three in Dorset & Wilts Two North as they shut out county rivals Sutton Benger at Knott Field.

The home side, wearing their new alternative strip sponsored by, and dedicated to, former and late members of the club, started the game well piling the pressure on the Benger line straight from the kick off with good forward carries.

They were awarded a penalty but Simon Higgins didn't convert.

The next 20 minutes saw Westbury continue to dominate but the final pass often went astray due to the bad conditions.

Eventually, Westbury were awarded another penalty which Simon Higgins converted.

Benger began to come into the game but after a strong solid scrum deep in the visitors' territory, scrum-half Mathew Inseal ghosted through a big hole in the defence to score, Higgins missing the conversion.

The second half continued in the same vein with the Westbury pack dominating in the poor conditions.

After continued pressure and some excellent ball retention, veteran second row James Wild blasted a hole in the defence to score Westbury's second, Higgins again off target with the extras.

With Westbury in control and their defence holding firm, they spent the last 10 minutes of the game encamped in the visitors 22.

The Benger defence held firm until scrum-half Inseal again went through a gap to score.
