TROWBRIDGE'S three-match winning run in South West One East came to an end as a much-changed side were put to the sword at county rivals Salisbury.

Sam Edwards replaced Matt Mayne in the front row, Scott Williams in at wing forward for Matt Howard, Alistair Lund coming in at fly-half for Lloyd Davis and Matt James replacing George Fowles on the right wing.

Trowbridge had the better start to the game, putting the home side under pressure from the off and were rewarded with a penalty attempt from Joe Knight that went just wide.

Salisbury then kicked their way out of trouble, pushing Trowbridge back in defence and, from a poor defensive kick from Trowbridge, spread the ball along their backs sending centre Rob Larcombe in for the opening score.

Fly-half Tom Lane converted but Trowbridge once again got the upper hand, forcing the home side to go offside and Knight getting the visitors on the scoreboard with the penalty.

Salisbury went further ahead from a 40-metre penalty goal from Lane after 20 minutes play and the home side now started to gain confidence, forcing the visitors to defend until they managed to force an overlap with right wing Tom Pottage getting in behind the Trowbridge backs to score under the posts.

Lane once again added the extra two points and Salisbury continued to play the more expansive game from the restart, sending in Pottage for his second score.

The visitors started the second half by bringing on Alex Hole and Jake Hemingway into the pack and for a while kept control of the ball, forcing the Salisbury pack on to the back foot and eventually over the line to score a much-needed try through Hemingway.

Knight added the conversion but once again the home side responded almost immediately from the restart with a second try from centre Larcombe and successful conversion from Pottage.

Trowbridge were now under considerable pressure, even though Salisbury were reduced to 13 at one stage by sin-binnings.

Larcombe got a another try, converted by Lane before full-back Ollie Bowden ran in to score and Lane added the extras.
