BATH have announced the signing of Scottish international back rower David Denton, subject to a medical.

The 25-year-old, who joins the club from Edinburgh Rugby, has 32 caps for Scotland – most recently starting in their one-point loss to Australia in the Rugby World Cup quarter-final at Twickenham.

Zimbabwe-born Denton played for Eastern Province in South Africa before moving to Scotland – the birthplace of his mother – to study at Edinburgh University.

Picked up by Edinburgh in 2010, hemade 78 appearances for the Pro12 side.

The 6 ft 5 in, 19 stone man boosts Bath's back row options following the return to rugby league of Sam Burgess last week.

“We’ve been looking to bolster our back row for some time now so we’re very excited that David is joining us,” said Bath head coach Mike Ford.

“He had an excellent World Cup, especially in the quarter-final when he managed to outshine one of the best Australian back rows I’ve seen for a long time.

"He’s going to fit in very well with the team and the way we play here.”
