MELKSHAM skipper Callum Hurn paid tribute to his side's performance as they ground out a comfortable win in Dorset & Wilts One North.

A dominant second half took Melksham to victory and Hurn said: "We expected a tough game in the conditions (but) we attacked their territory and controlled the ball well to get the win.

"All the team can be proud of their performances. I was impressed by the handling and defensive line.''

On a wet day and heavy pitch, the first quarter had both sides testing one another and the conditions.

Melksham's James Reeves made a break and offloaded to full back Matt Glover who scored out wide.

Swindon got on the scoreboard with a penalty but the visitors, ramping up their control of territory, had a scrum five metres out and quick ball went out through the hands to find Glover for his second, Gareth Evans converting.

With the pressure maintained by the visitors a breakdown in the home 22 saw scrum-half Hurn quickly down the blindside to score the third.

In the second half Melksham dominated territory, Glover going in for his hat-trick after quick ball out from the scrum.

Reeves stepped past defenders to score, Evans adding the extras and Matt Plumb collected a loose ball to round off the scoring.
