TROWBRIDGE moved themselves further clear of trouble in South West One East as they put the division's bottom side to the sword at Doric Park.

With just one win in their previous six matches, Steve Ojomoh's men needed a boost but neither team gained the upper hand in the opening exchanges.

Swans veteran fly-half Phil Graves missed an early penalty attempt, but was on target with his second shot before adding another penalty to give the visitors a 6-0 half-time lead.

Trowbridge started the second half with much more urgency as Dan Smith came on at number eight.

In the third minute of the half the forwards pressed and forced their way over with Matt Williams getting the touchdown.

The home forwards had the edge and skipper Scott Williams went over from a rolling maul deep in the Swans 22. Despite the Swans going down to 14 men due to a yellow card, Trowbridge were frustrated until flanker George Cope went over for their third try.

The visitors rallied and after some pressure and defensive deficiencies, Matt Spencer went over for an unconverted try.

Swans threatened to snatch a win as Pat Adkins intercepted a Trowbridge pass on the Swans 22, but he did not have the pace and was caught by Ieuan Turner.

Williams was yellow-carded for Trowbridge in the dying moments, but they held on for victory.
