FIRST-TEAM coach Toby Booth says Bath Rugby will weigh up whether or not to throw their Six Nations heroes straight back into Aviva Premiership action this weekend.

George Ford, Jonathan Joseph and Anthony Watson helped England complete a first Grand Slam in 13 years with victory in France last Saturday and have reported back for club duty high on confidence.

However, Booth is aware of the rigours the trio have faced on a lengthy international camp and whether or not they – as well as Wales fly-half Rhys Priestland – are fresh enough to be named in the side to take on local rivals Gloucester this weekend is still being decided.

“Having an influx of fresh blood back from the Six Nations is certainly going to help us continue our positive attitude (following last weekend’s win over Newcastle,” said Booth.

“They are available to play for us but it’s about assessing them on individual basis, how they are mentally and physically.

“They will say they all want to contribute, which is great, but we have to assess what their mind states and physical states are to allow them to perform at their best because when you play any Premiership fixture, let alone a derby, you need to make sure you are physically able.

“(Scotland back-row forward) Dave Denton has started doing some training too, so there is another one.

“It’s just good to have some choices as that allows you to manage your squad a little bit more creatively.”
