TROWBRIDGE head coach Dan Jeffries described his side’s 34-26 home win over Wimborne as "near perfect".

Tries from Lewis Jordan, Shai Bonnick and a penalty try, as well as some good kicking from Ashley Chalk, meant the hosts went into the break 24-0 up.

Scott Williams soon added his name to the growing list of scorers, with Chalk again successfully converting.

The visitors then replied with two tries of their own, one of which was converted, to make the score 31-12, before Chalk added a penalty to complete Trowbridge’s scoring.

Late on Wimborne, enjoyed a late flurry to register two more converted tries to secure a bonus point as the game finished 34-26.

Jeffries was happy with the performance from his players but admits they lost their way during the tail end of the game.

“It was near perfect,” said Jeffries. "We started really well and dominated the game, the overview is they scored all four of their tries in the last 15 minutes.

“At the point we’d won the game we gave them a bit of a sniff, tried a few things and let them back in.

“We dominated up front and started to move the ball nicely. Shai Bonnick was causing them all sorts of trouble, he’s a really strong guy and was too much for them to handle.

“At the 60 minute mark we lost our composure but overall I’m really happy."

Jeffries is now hoping his side can string a run of results together, starting with this weekend’s game away to Walcot, but will be without their captain Williams The Trowbridge boss also revealed there is to be a link-up between his team and neighbours Bath, after speaking with head coach Tabai Matson, which would see Trowbridge's young prospects given a chance to impress the Premiership club.

From Trowbridge, there were four players selected for Bath United's game against the Combined Services at The Rec on Monday night, Bonnick, Chalk, Williams and Max Day, but the game fell foul of the weather.

“I’ve been talking to them for some time about those young guys who have got a lot of potential and might need some exposure for the higher level,” added Jeffries.

“This collaboration is good for us in trying to track players but also some exposure for the boys who might not make the level but can come back to us."

“It could be a really strong thing if we look to become a South West One side again.”
