ROSS Batty hopes to see an immediate response from the Bath camp after they suffered just a second Aviva Premiership defeat of the season last weekend.

Todd Blackadder’s troops suffered an agonising 21-20 loss on the road at Harlequins, dropping from second to third in the table following the conclusion of round nine’s fixtures.

There is no need for Bath to do too much soul-searching following their disappointment at the Stoop, given that they are in strong shape domestically and in the European Challenge Cup, but hooker Batty knows that adjustments still need to be made.

“It was one that come the end of the game, we were all bitterly disappointed about,” said Batty ahead of Saturday’s clash against league leaders Saracens at The Rec.

“In this league to pick up those away wins is vital so especially when you run a team so close, it’s hard to take. It’s one we have to learn the lessons from and realise what went on and move on quickly because we have another huge game coming up.

“We have been doing well and everyone is reading off the same page, the lads are working really hard.

“It would have been lovely to pick up another win on the road but it’s one maybe that can focus the mind and make sure we are all on the same page moving forward.

“Every game is hard-fought and you have to do something really good to win so every week is a massive test. With a loss you have to look really long and hard at yourself to see what you can do better.

“In terms of what we want to execute in games, there were massive positives but there are also some negatives about what we did wrong.

“From a loss there is a learning curve and to be a good team you have to learn those lessons and learn them quickly.”

There was more bad news for Bath this week as winger Matt Banahan is set to be ruled out for three months with a knee injury picked up against Quins.

World Cup winner Jason Robinson has called on England boss Eddie Jones to hand Semesa Rokoduguni a run of games on the international stage.

The Bath man produced a man-of-the-match performance against Fiji at Twickenham two weeks ago, before being dropped in favour of centre Elliot Daly against Argentina.

Even a red card for Daly against the Pumas has not helped Rokoduguni earn a recall to the side as Harlequins Marland Yarde has been chosen to start this weekend against Australia.

“For me, Roko just needs to keep doing what he does and hopefully he gets the opportunity,” said Robinson.
