BRADFORD on Avon skipper Oli Stacey scored his first try for the club as they continued their successful start to the Dorset & Wilts One North campaign with a 29-5 victory over Melksham.

Stacey, who has been with the Ashley Lane club for five years and captain for three, bagged one of three first-half tries from a lineout catch and drive to help set up Bradford's triumph over their local rivals.

Centre Josh Felix opened the scoring after an evenly-contested opening quarter and Stacey then crossed the whitewash before Melksham got back into it with their own catch and drive move which saw skipper Charlie Radcliffe touch down.

Melksham missed an opportunity to get back on terms after the break and they were made to pay later as Andrew Twinney scored and Will Slark added a brace of tries, Felix booting two conversions.

New boys Warminster wrapped up their second victory of the season over county opposition as they defeated Minety at Folly Lane.

The visitors took the lead when Warminster, who were plying their trade in Dorset and Wilts One South last year, were caught offside and scrum-half Garin Garland slotted home the penalty.

The hosts then laid siege to the Minety line, but some solid defending kept them at bay until the 32nd minute when Louis Frank crashed over close to the posts. The conversion was missed.

After flanker Stephen Brown went close for Minety, Garland restored the lead with his second penalty of the match.

Warminster edged back in front 13 minutes into the second half with a penalty of their own through Gavin Pratt before Garland made it 9-8 to Minety.

However, the decisive score came in the 63rd minute, the Warminster fly-half sold the Minety defence a dummy to leave them flat-footed as the ball was floated out wide to score in the corner.

Corsham ran in seven tries as they defeated Swindon’s Supermarine 43-12.

Hamish Milner bagged a brace for the hosts, with Liam Snape, Ben Russell, Adam Drape, Taylor Ball and Steve Bailey also crossing. Dan Goldsworthy converted four of the seven tries.
