CORSHAM maintained their unbeaten record in Dorset and Wilts Division One North with a 36-11 success at Minety.

The league leaders’ power told in the ninth minute when, from a lineout, the ball was passed along the backs to centre Will Chivers, who chipped over the Minety defence for Liam Snape to run in close to the posts for an unconverted score.

Minety hit back in the 13th minute when Garin Garland slotted home a penalty from 25 metres out and the scrum-half put his side into the lead 16 minutes later with another three points.

However, Corsham restored their before the break when winger Hamish Miller touched down.

The visitors to a 15-6 lead into the break when they exploited to the weaknesses in the Minety defence for Aaron Gale to score in the corner.

The visitors fourth try came in the 54th minute through Gale before Minety set-up camp on the Corsham line allowing full-back Jack Ward to score in the corner.

However, two late tries, including a second for Snape, saw Corsham home.

Warminster remain hot on Corsham’s heels as they too maintained their 100 per cent start to the season with a 24-17 success at Pewsey Vale.

Pewsey made the better start to the game and lock Karl Crosbie forced his way over from the back of a ruck for an unconverted try.

Warminster hit back when Rusiate Waka burst through to level matters. However, Cieran Chester saw his conversion go wide.

Waka added his and his team’s second soon after in similar fashion. Chester again saw attempt at the posts drift wide.

Warminster then lost skipper John McCredie, who had only just returned from a knee problem, after suffering a blow to the leg.

The third score for Warminster came from number eight Lai Vinakadina when he dotted down in the corner after stretching a flagging Pewsey defence for a converted score.

The hosts reduced the arrears to 17-10 with an unconverted try from prop Guy Ellis before Waka bagged his hat-trick.

With a 24-10 lead, Waminster were unable to breakdown Pewsey, who went on to score late on through hooker Jeremy Horton.
