TROWBRIDGE head coach Dan Jeffries is hoping that last weekend’s demolition of Frome will provide the perfect foundations for their cup endeavours.

The hosts were convincing 48-7 winners over lowly Frome in Southern Counties South as they came back from an early setback.

Frome took the lead but Max Day soon levelled and a brace from Shane Dodson and a George Leat score handed Trowbridge a bonus point before the first half was out.

In the second half, Trowbridge were able to use their lead to experiment ahead of tomorrow’s Dorset and Wilts Intermediate Cup final against Swanage and Wareham, with Justin Reed making it 29-7.

Trowbridge were reduced to 14 men when Lee Fairclough received his first yellow card of his career but that did not disrupt the hosts flow as Leat, Day and Reed all went over the line.

Trowbridge welcome back the likes of Shane Johnstone and Shai Bonnick from injury at the weekend and have Sean Jones returning, however, Jeffries hopes emotions don’t get the better of his side who made it all the way to Twickenham in 2014.

“Swans are just a really difficult team to beat and they are a great team,” he added.

“When we play well, we play at a great intensity and that will break them down.

“We now look substantially different to the side that lost by a point to them in the league.

“When we are playing with intensity and are switched on, we are a very good side and it would be good to see where that puts us on Saturday,” Jeffries said.

“We have a lot of lads who have been there and done it and they carry that with them into a game.

“It also means that we have a lot of guys with it being a burden on their shoulders, feeling like they should do it every time they perform in a game like this.

“There is a lot of experience in the side and I expect those guys to pull the younger guys, who may be a bit overly keen, through with them,” he said.

Meanwhile, the club are celebrating after they received a £3,200 grant from the SUEZ Communities Trust for training lights.
