BRADFORD on Avon head coach Dave George hopes to reap the benefits of a fully-fit squad after Christmas even though his side are maintaining their push for honours in Dorset & Wilts One North.

The Ashley Lane men remained tucked in behind unbeaten leaders Corsham and Warminster after edging out Pewsey Vale 11-3 on Saturday.

Full-back Tom Bartlett scored the game’s only try while centre Will Slark added two penalties for the hosts.

“It was a very hard-fought win and a good game of rugby,’’ said the Bradford chief. “Both defences were pretty good and we half-expected a bit of a tussle and that’s exactly what we got.

“We haven’t managed to put a full team out yet but we’ve still got to play Corsham twice and Warminster once so, come the new year when most of the boys are back, hopefully we will get the rewards.’’

Melksham made it six wins in a row as they romped to a 40-12 triumph at Chippenham 2nd.

The visitors were first to strike from a line-out, prop Rob Escott powering over for his first of the season and fly-half Callum Hurn converting before full-back Cameron Bull went over in the corner.

Centre Phil Stone added another score after the break, before Chippenham got their driving maul going for their opening try.

Matt Glover came off the bench to bag two Melksham tries and then Dave Dyke scored Melksham’s final try of the match.

Leaders Corsham made it eight wins from eight as they squeezed past Royal Wootton Bassett 2nd 21-16 while Warminster thrashed Frome 2nd 77-3.
