TROWBRIDGE were able to recover from a forward-line crisis to secure a 29-10 win away to North Dorset.

Adam Sullivan gave the visitors the perfect platform less than five minutes in as he touched down, Tom Weaver missing the conversion.

Skipper Scott Williams also went over the whitewash but injuries to tight-head Sam Edwards and stand-in prop Henry Turner led to Dorset being within two points at the break.

However, Dan Jeffries' side were able to regroup and tries from Max Day and James Davies in the second period saw Trowbridge home.

“We started really well and scored within the first five minutes,” said Jeffries.

“Then we picked up an injury to Sam Edwards, our tight-head, which actually caused us a real problem.

“We suddenly went from really dominating every aspect of the game to really struggling in the scrummage.

“That was a good result because it got a bit hairy in the middle of the game and it was looking like we might struggle to get any ball, and it could have easily gone the wrong way.

“We executed the game plan well and we were probably helped by their naivety.”

The result leaves Jeffries’ side third in the Southern Counties South table, six points off leaders Wimborne, who they host next month.

And while the Trowbridge head coach has one eye on the title, he is concentrating primarily on this weekend’s game with Sherborne and will be boosted by five players returning from injury.

“We’re still in a situation where we need the other teams to slip up to get back into it but they are playing each other in a couple of weeks and we still have Wimborne to play, so we have got a bit of a shot still,” he added.

“Sherborne, this weekend, are one of the few teams that have beat us this season, so that will be a big one.”
