TROWBRIDGE head coach Dan Jefferies was happy to see his side return to winning ways in Southern Counties South.

Last weekend’s 32-11 win over Walcot was the perfect morale booster following their defeat to league leaders Wimborne seven days earlier.

Tom Weaver, Max Day, Adam Sullivan, Wade Loftus, Adam Sullivan, Lee Fairclough and Jackson Szabo all crossed the try line, while Weaver completed the scoring with the boot.

“It was a really good performance and conditions weren’t great. There was a wind going straight down the pitch,” said Jefferies.

“We chose to play against it in the first half and that actually inspired us to play rugby because we couldn’t kick the ball away.

“We played with a really good intensity so we started the game well and took it on from there.

“The big thing for us in the second half, despite having the wind, was to keep playing and not play the territory game.

“In the dying minutes they scored a controversial try which was a bit frustrating but overall we controlled the game.

“The important thing after the Wimborne result was that we bounced back, stayed professional and didn’t lose any momentum from the season.''

While they are four points behind second-placed Swanage & Wareham, it is still mathematically possible for Jefferies’ side to make the play-offs depending on results from the teams above them.

Despite this, Jeffries boss doesn’t want his team to take their foot off the gas, starting with this Saturday’s clash with Blandford.

“They’re always a very different side at home compared to what they are when they play away,” he added.

“They can be a very strong side at home and out wide and are very physical. We are just going to carry on doing what we have been doing all season and that is trying to win every game.

“We know if our forwards get the job done we have guys in the background who know how to finish.

“If results do go our way and we get into the play-offs we will try to take every opportunity as it comes.”

Jefferies will be without Johnny King who suffered a broken ankle in last weekend’s game.

Joe Knight, Shai Bonnick and George Leat are also unavailable as they latter recovers from a dislocated shoulder.
