WESTBURY Ladies rounded off their season with a 28-26 win over Minehead at home.

This was scheduled as the penultimate game of the campaign, but the final match against Gordano has since been awarded to Westbury, meaning they finish as league runners-up to Chew.

Captain Anna Hemingway crashed through to open the scoring for Westbury, with Jess Wells converting, but Minehead soon hit back with a converted try of their own.

Lana Plummer was next over the whitewash, Wells again on target from the tee, but Minehead responded to level at 14-14 at half-time.

Kate Vaughan kicked off the second-half scoring with a converted try, but a pair of Minehead touchdowns – one converted – gave them the lead for the first time.

With just three minutes, Westbury were able to keep their two-year unbeaten home league run intact when Wells crashed over the whitewash before slotting the kick to seal an amazing win.

  • WARMINSTER RFC Pink Panthers finished their season off in style, with three age group sides – U13s, U15s and U18s – playing at Folly Lane.

The Panthers teamed with girls from Kingdown School, who have been conducting an after-school club, and played a county select side from teams from all over Dorset and Wiltshire.

The U13s played well but were overwhelmed by a well-drilled side, who came mainly from Bournemouth.

The U15s had and extremely physical game, which saw a large number of tries scored by both sides, and the U18s competed well against a strong team from North Dorset.
