Warminster hit back to take top spot

Bradley King-Taylor gave Trowbridge Town Youth Black a 1-0 half-time lead against visitors Chippenham Town Youth in the Under 16s Blue Division.

James Ricaud made it 2-0 before James Griffiths finished off the scoring and the final score at 3-0 to the Blacks.

Under 16s Red Division

STRIKES from Beau Blakeman, Thomas Snelgrove-Brown, Craig Shepherd and Kieran Edwards gave Warminster United a 4-3 win over Westbury Youth and move them into top spot.

Warminster conceded early in the first half and went into the break 2-0 down.

They conceded again after some poor defending saw the ball in the back of the net when it went in off a Warminster defender. The game looked beyond doubt but the Warminster players had other ideas.

Warminster had plenty of chances throughout the game but were kept at bay by some excellent goalkeeping from Westbury. Warminster finally got a goal with only 20 minutes left when Blakeman finally hit the back of the net, followed not long later by one from Shepherd.

Kieran Edwards levelled the scores with an excellent free kick that saw the ball steered through a gap in the Westbury wall. The ball was hit with such venom and accuracy that it left the goalkeeper with little chance.

Warminster took the lead with only eight minutes to go when the ball was put into the box from a corner. Snelgrove-Brown got his head to it and sent the ball goalwards. Although the ball was goal bound a Westbury player was the last one to get a touch but Snelgrove-Brown is still claiming the goal.

Warminster would like to thank the referee, Michael Day, who refereed the game in a very professional manner.
