The Melksham Town Youth Yellow team, who gained their first point in the under 12s Red Division
IT was a double first for Melksham Town Youth Yellow in the Under 12s Red
Division.
The youngsters gained their first point of the season in a 4-4 draw at
second in the table Chippenham Town Youth and defender Kieran Stockton, who
was celebrating his birthday, scored two goals, his first for the team.
For the passer-by it would have been hard to distinguish which team was
aiming for promotion and which team was struggling at the bottom of the
division, such was the fine performance by Melksham Town Youth Yellow who
significantly raised their game.
Both teams had difficulty playing good football due to the high winds but
Chippenham managed to take an early lead through Robert Gough before
Melksham equalised when Callum Mccaldon scored from distance.
Chippenham, though mostly on top, could not reproduce their season-long fine
form and struggled to find any consistency.
They did go back into the lead after Nathan Caddell scored but again
Melksham equalised thanks to a fine strike by Thomas Buckle.

The second half saw much of the same as Melksham stifled the Chippenham
players and threatened to cause an upset, which would have been fully
deserved.
Goals from Louis Bishop and Rhys Cle for Chippenham were cancelled out by
equalisers from Kieran Stockton (2), who was especially pleased.
The game ended with Chippenham searching in vain for a winner but Melksham,
who created a couple of break-away opportunities, held out to secure their
first point of the season in a very brave and determined performance.
