Young inspires FC Chippenham to away win

FC Chippenham ran out 2-1 away winners over Trowbridge Wanderers in the Under Nines Division One.

Kieran Fitzwater gave FC Chippenham the lead midway through the first half and Jordan Young made it 2-0 after the break from the penalty spot before Wanderers replied with a deflected Sean Drewitt shot.

FC Chippenham dominated most of the game, with Frankie Vaz and Young controlling the midfield and they could have increased their score with Callum Gunner hitting the woodwork on a couple of occasions.

Westbury Youth Lions drew 2-2 with Chippenham Youth White in their last home game of the season.

Both sides played some fantastic football and produced a highly entertaining game for the supporters.

Both sides went close in the first half, Alex Harrison hitting the post for Westbury, but it was 0-0 at the break.

Westbury's first goal came from a long throw-in that took a deflection to beat the goalkeeper shortly before Ben Starr made some room on the edge of the Chippenham penalty area to drive in a left footed shot.

Chippenham responded with a nicely worked move to make it 2-1 and then caught Westbury on the counter attack to score a second.

Both sides continued to play attacking football, with Adam Kenich hitting the bar for Westbury late on, but the score was stay 2-2 at the whistle.

Under Nines Division Six

IN a highly competitive and entertaining match Melksham Magpies ran out 3-2 winners over Larkhall Athletic.

Melksham took an early lead through Haydn Sears but Larkhall came back well to lead 2-1 at half time, with goals from Lucas Ojolo and Nick Atwell.

Melksham drew level after a period of pressure after a handball in the area.

Will Perkins stepped up to put away a well taken penalty.

The game looked to be heading for a draw before Alex Wilkes fired home an excellent shot with virtually the last kick of the game.

It was an unfortunate way to end the game for Larkhall but both teams deserve praise for a very well played match.

Chippenham Town Youth are still in the running to take the title after running out 4-1 winners away to Trowbridge Town Youth D. Ben Berkley (2), Ben Hislop and Dan Carter scored for Chippenham, with Callum Norris replying for Trowbridge.

It was an all-girl effort that got Westbury Youth Tigers off the mark against Bradford Town Youth, when Ella Dyer converted Ellie Osborne's nicely placed corner.

Alex Brimble made it 2-0 before the break.

From then on Bradford got into the game, making it difficult for Westbury and in the second half pulled it back to 2-1 with less than ten minutes to go.

Jacob Humphrey eventually got Westbury's third goal when he found some room on the edge of the box to drive in a fine left footed shot to give Westbury the win.
