Larkhall finish with perfect record

UNDER 12s: Larkhall Athletic finished their Under 12s Green Division season with a 100 per cent record with an emphatic 9-0 victory against a battling Trowbridge Town side.

After early pressure, Harry Andrews opened the scoring with a powerful drive from the edge of the box. Further goals from Jordan Jenkins, Joe Battrick and Joe Sowing followed allowing Larkhall to go in at half-time leading 4-0.

The second half started in the same vein, with Battrick soon adding his second. Trowbridge, to their credit, dug deep and a combination of good goalkeeping and wasteful finishing kept out Larkhall until the last ten minutes when a brace from substitute Daniel Bennett and two own goals made the final score 9-0.

Under 12s Red Division

THE top of the table clash between leaders Warminster Highbury and Chippenham Town Youth Blues promised to be an unmissable event as both teams have displayed exceptional talent this season and thoroughly deserve to be promoted.

The crowd were treated to a game of the highest order with both teams showing exactly why they have done so well this season.

Chippenham Town took early control of the game and stormed to a 3-0 half-time lead as a result of excellent teamwork and some exciting free-flowing football.

Warminster had difficulty stopping the Chippenham players creating chances to increase their lead and had to defend resolutely to keep the score down.

The second half was a lot more even and a 20 minute period of dominance, excellent passing and fine finishing by Warminster resulted in them drawing level at 3-3.

Chippenham got back into the game, making it impossible to predict who would win as both teams had chances to take the lead.

Chippenham Town did just that with ten minutes remaining but even then the game had more to deliver. Warminster got a well deserved equaliser making it 4-4, putting both sets of fans into a state of nervousness for their players as they gave every ounce of effort to score a winning goal.

In the final minutes chances were made by both teams which could have won the game but it ended in a deserved draw.

The crowd gave both sets of players generous applause as they provided a truly wonderful performance which was enjoyed by all.

Special mention needs to be made for the 14-year-old referee, Stephen Myers, who having just passed the refereeing course, had a fine game and has a bright future in the middle.

Chippenham's goals came from Symons Leper (2), Dom Staple-Preston and Tom Jones, with Stuart Lindsay, Mate Leak, Junky Obstmayer and Simon Papworth replying for Highbury.
