North Wiltshire rivals share the spoils

UNDER 14s: Castle Combe Colts and Chippenham Town Rangers played a re-run of last week's match in the Under 14s Red Division, but unfortunately for Combe there was no a repeat of their dominance last week.

Rangers started the better of the two teams and opened the scoring after eight minutes.

There was stalemate in the middle of the park and both sides had opportunities to score but neither took advantage.

Combe started much brighter in the second half and looked in more dominant mood and after ten minutes Combe's top scorer Matt Stevens scored his 38th goal of the season by neatly slotting the ball past the Rangers keeper after being put through by Combe's man-of-the-match Sam Wozniak.

Combe began to press and had shot after shot saved before Rangers went on the counter attack and shocked Combe by getting their second goal 15 minutes into the half.

Combe rallied as a team and after 25 minutes substitute Joe Needham crossed from the right and Matthew Baines, playing in an unfamiliar left midfield position, got onto the end of it to equalise once again.

This set the game up for an exciting finale, with Combe pressing the Chippenham goal but with the Rangers keeper in excellent form.

The game was played in an excellent spirit and both teams were a credit to the league.
