LITTLE Christopher Hawkins was a late festive delivery for his parents who were expecting him to arrive on Christmas Eve.

He is the first child for Samantha Hawkins, 31, a tax advisor, and her husband Andy, 41, a chef.

The baby was born in Royal United Hospital, Bath, where Mrs Hawkins had to undergo an emergency caesarean.

"It's not the way we planned it but the main thing is he got here safely in the end," she said.

"We are totally over the moon with him. He is the first grandchild for my parents and they are over the moon too."

The couple did not know he was going to be a boy but Mr Hawkins said he was thrilled with his new son.

"He was due on Christmas Eve so he was supposed to be an early Christmas present but he ended up being two weeks late," he said.

"At the moment he is very good but he didn't like the camera much. He's a very hungry boy."

The couple decided to call him Christopher because they liked it and it is traditional.

His middle name Michael is a traditionally used name in Mr Hawkins' family.

Born: January 7, 11.30pm, Weight: 7lb 11oz, Parents: Samantha and Andy Hawkins, of Hilperton.
