Dedicated Trowbridge volunteer Brian Townson died on September 1 at Salisbury Hospital, aged 64.
Mr Townson, who had Down’s syndrome, was a keen volunteer and well-known in the community, regularly working at social enterprise Palmer Gardens, which provides training for disabled and disadvantaged people.
He also did volunteer work at Larkrise Community Farm and Larkrise Special School for children with severe learning difficulties.
Mr Townson lived in Bradford on Avon for many years, before he moved to live with Patrick and Vanessa Butler in Wiltshire Drive, Trowbridge, about 10 years ago.
He was an honorary member of Mencap and enjoyed joining their trips to places like Weymouth and Weston-super-Mare. He was also involved with the Phab Club, which promotes and encourages people of all abilities to come together on equal terms, and Melksham Gateway Club, which he attended every week.
Mr and Mrs Butler said: “He was always very happy and he loved dancing and singing.
“He was also very passionate about his clubs and enjoyed getting involved in anything they were doing.
“He was just very well liked by everybody and he would always take hours when he went into town as everyone would know him and he would stop and chat with them.”
His funeral took place at West Wiltshire Crematorium in Semington on Wednesday at 10.45am, followed by a celebration of his life at the Wesley Road Club in Trowbridge.
No flowers are requested with donations in his memory going to the Phab Club in Trowbridge and the Gateway Club in Melksham.
