Born: January 31 at 9.03am

Weight: 8lb 5oz

Parents: Ian and Tina Kirk, of Hornbeam Road, Trowbridge.

Ruby is a third daughter for Ian and Tina Kirk, both 30, and a little sister for Evelyn, six, and Elizabeth, three.

Mrs Kirk says her two older daughters are very pleased to have a little sister to play with. She added: “I’m not sure how good it will be when they are all teenagers though.”

The couple chose the name Ruby as they wanted another traditional name, and Marie is the name of Mrs Kirk’s sister. Mrs Kirk said her pregnancy went relatively smoothly although she did have to be treated for a couple of infections. She said: “The labour itself was only about three-and-a-half hours. I woke up at 5am and started having contractions at about 5.30am.

“When we reached Trowbridge Birthing Centre I was almost on my hands and knees; I think we left it a bit late. But it was a nice change from the other two, which took 10 hours and eight hours.”

The couple, who met while they were both at Clarendon College, have been together since they were 17.
