Born: 12.12pm on Sunday, January 9

Weight: 6lb 3oz

Parents: Rachel, 24, and Peter, 40, Foreman of Silver Street, Warminster

Warminster mum Rachel Foreman had to spend hours outside on a cold morning during her labour, after the car broke down after her first visit to Trowbridge Birthing Centre.

They were on their way home at about 6am after being advised her labour was not advanced enough – but were back in hospital again by 8.30am.

She gave birth to Ariana just after noon, opting for a water birth as she said she finds warm water soothing.

She said: “It was quite a bit of rushing around which wasn’t fun, and sitting out in the cold by the side of the road made me feel even worse.

“But it was a straightforward birth without any other problems, and was quick considering she is my first. I’m quite lucky really.

“I had weird cravings for Chinese food and for oranges, I ate tons of them.

“She is named Judy and Vanessa after my mother and Peter’s mother, and Ariana after a character from Harry Potter.

“She doesn’t cry and hardly makes any sound at all. We have had absolutely everyone round to see her, with all sorts of tips and advice.”

The couple, who married in August, are hoping to have Ariana christened within a few months.
