Southwick School opened in 1868. The elementary subjects were reading, writing and arithmetic and this included repetition, dictation, grammar, spelling and poetry. The school was enlarged in 1898 to accommodate 200 children and in 1907 the average attendance was 115.
The present school in Hollis Way was built in 1975. The school accommodates children aged from four to 11 years and is currently organised into seven classes. There are approximately 175 children on roll.
