Methodist Chapel revisited Then & Now

After receiving a picture of the Staverton Chapel taken in 1901 from postcard collector Phil Lucas we revisited the building for our Then and Now feature. We know from the plaque above the front door that the building was built in 1924.

The Sunday school at Wesleyan Methodist Chapel finished in 1984 and the chapel closed in 1985 after the last service was held in July of that year. The building was then sold to Nestlé who used it to store their archives.

The grade two building was bought in November 2013 by a Trowbridge couple who completely refurbished the old chapel They built into a family home from a shell with under floor heating, a spiral staircase leading to an two bedrooms and a bathroom on an upper floor to give the building a new lease of life.
