OBITUARY: Mrs Muriel Harrison
ACTIVE charity fundraiser Muriel Harrison died at Bath's Royal United Hospital on April 9, aged 82, after suffering a stroke.
Mrs Harrison, of Littlemead, Box, moved to Wiltshire about 30 years ago and was secretary of the local Cancer Research fundraising committee as well as being a member of the Box Singers.
She was born in Portsmouth and grew up there during the war, when she was eventually evacuated to Steyning in Sussex.
She returned to work as a typist for the Navy, where she met her husband Gordon.
The couple were married in 1947 and had two children, Neil and Rosemary.
After moving to the Bath area in 1976 the couple both enjoyed being members of the Box Singers and Mrs Harrison served for 27 years as secretary of the Cancer Research committee.
When she retired following an operation she received a presentation from the head office of Cancer Research to thank her for her years of dedicated service.
Mrs Harrison loved music of all sorts but especially singing and playing the piano.
She leaves her husband, two children and four grandchildren. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday at the West Wiltshire crematorium, Semington, at 11.30am. Donations in her memory can be made to Cancer Research UK.
