Welcome back to the 70s

THE huge success of the BBC’s retro crime drama Life on Mars has revealed our fondness for all things 1970s (well maybe not everything). So this guide called 70s Wiltshire should provide an enjoyable trip down memory lane for many of our readers.

We ask the questions that no-one else dares to ask - like why did Bungle the Bear from kids TV show Rainbow wear pyjamas in bed but felt it quite normal to walk around naked during the day!

As well as the major international headlines of the 1970s, brought to you by John Craven, we’ve also dipped into the archives of the Wiltshire Times to bring you some of the memorable pictures taken by our photographers. We’ve also found some of the old adverts that appeared in the paper and they make fascinating reading, especially when you compare prices for homes and cars with today’s prices.
